School Lunch Hero Spotlight: Dawn Kardos

In celebration of National School Lunch Hero Day (May 5), CUSD Insider is showcasing profiles of some of the super food & nutrition services employees we have throughout the District.

Today, we are highlighting Dawn Kardos, Lead Food Service Professional, Marco Forster Middle School.

Q: How long have you worked for CUSD?

A: 33 years

Q: Describe your role in Food & Nutrition Services

A: I oversee the Food Service program at Marco Forster Middle School. In addition to serving the students and helping prepare great meals they will want to eat, I do by best to make breakfast and lunch the highlight of their day.

Q: What is the most rewarding part of your job?

A: I love to see the students smile, there is nothing like it!

Q: Why is it important for students to have nutritious, filling meals everyday?

A: If their stomachs are full they will be ready to learn, and education is very important.

Q: What was your favorite school lunch when you were a student?

A: Hamburger

Q: What is your favorite meal to cook at home?

A: Fajitas and tacos
