Marblehead first grade students give special lunches to those in need

Students in Dr. Sarah Fontanes’ first grade class had an extra special activity for Valentine’s Day. Each student decorated a special lunch bag and filled it with delicious and nutritious food to donate to Family Assistance Ministries. FAM provides food and other services to those in need in the San Clemente area, and was grateful to receive the festive gifts from the Dolphin students. A representative from FAM picked up the lunch bags Wednesday morning, thanking the students for their kindness and generosity.

Dr. Fontanes has been organizing the lunch bag donations in her class for 10 years, teaching the kids the importance of thinking of others in their community, especially during the holidays. The students enjoyed the morning with some other Valentine’s activities, like cookie decorating and Valentine’s bingo.
