Ally Losness, a marketing manager for CLIF Bar & Company, is well aware of the challenges faced by teachers in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Having gone through the Capistrano Unified School District schools herself, Losness wanted to show appreciation for the district’s faculty and staff with a big-hearted gesture.
“We were trying to think of areas where people have a large need,” Losness said. “I have a really deep appreciation for what teachers do and have heard so many stories about the hardship of this year for teachers and students and faculty. So I thought, what better group to get a little pick-me-up snack from CLIF Bar than the teachers? It was an easy no brainer for us.”
So Losness arranged for her company to donate a case of LUNA Bars, which are manufactured by CLIF Bar & Company, to all 56 schools in the CUSD.
That translates to a total of 12,500 bars.
“We are thankful for organizations like CLIF, who have extended a helping hand to their communities during these challenging times,” CUSD Superintendent Kirsten Vital said. “Their generous donation of LUNA Bars to all of our school sites is greatly appreciated by our teachers and staff who have expended endless amounts of energy preparing our classrooms for our young people in these very unpredictable times.”
LUNA Bars are designed for keeping you sustained with the energy needed to get through the day, Losness said.
And being a packaged snack, LUNA Bars are a safer option during these unprecedented times, she said.
“Right now, I know with COVID, any packaged snack has been really helpful to busy people such as teachers because they don’t have a lot of time to sit down and have a fresh meal in a clean safe way,” she said.
The donation is a win for CLIF Bar & Company as well, Losness said, since the main goal is for people to try their product.
“So we are just grateful for the opportunity from Capo as well,” she said. ““Hopefully, the teachers’ lounge will be a happier place.”
