CCA Summer Academies 2023! - CUSD Insider

CCA Summer Academies 2023!

If you’re looking for an engaging activity for your young ones this summer, consider College and Career Advantage’s elementary school and middle school academies and high school summer classes. Students in grades 4-8 will explore Career Technical Education in a stress-free and grade-free environment; while high school students will be given the opportunity to earn between 2.5 -5 credits towards graduation in one of our accelerated summer programs. Classes start on June 12 and are hosted in-person at Aliso Niguel and Capistrano Valley high school campuses.

Incoming 4th and 5th grade students will have the opportunity to learn skills in computation, problem solving, and critical thinking by designing and programming robots in our Elementary Robotics Camp—a 6-week course, taught by a CCA engineering teacher and hosted at Aliso Niguel High School.

Middle school students will have the opportunity to choose from five different academies—all hosted by industry professionals and CCA high school instructors. Students can choose from engineering, robotics, automotive mechanics, culinary arts, or Kid-trepreneurship—an entrepreneurship camp aimed at students aged 10-12. Classes will be held at CVHS and ANHS and have varying start and end times and dates.

High school students have their choice of three courses, which will earn them credit toward graduation and a letter grade. Students can explore career paths related to Crime Scene Investigations and Emergency Medical Response in person throughout the six weeks of summer school; or opt for an online course in Medical Innovation, Research and Entrepreneurship (MIRE)—hosted in partnership with University Lab Partners and CHOC Research.

All course descriptions will be available at ccadvantage.org beginning April 10th. Online registration will open at 8 a.m. on May 1,and is first come, first served.  Please visit www.ccadvantage.org for more information and to register!
