‘Let’s step into our future with optimism and hope:’ a message from the class of 2020

By Chelsea Turner

The Capistrano Unified School District graduating class of 2020 had big plans to close out the end of senior year, from prom to senior awards, from sporting events to final concerts, culminating in the biggest event of all — the day they would proudly walk across the stage and receive their diplomas. But all plans were brought to a standstill when a global pandemic shook the nation.

Although they may not be graduating together as planned on June 4, CUSD’s seniors found a way to remind each other they are not alone. Together, they created a video to uplift and inspire their classmates during this challenging time.

Their voices share a message of hope for the graduating class of 2020 — and students aren’t the only ones featured in the video. To recognize their all-star students for their incredible achievements this year, the district has included a surprise message from a local superstar.
