Under a brilliantly sunny sky in the courtyard of Union High School, California Preparatory Academy celebrated its annual graduation on May 29. Family and friends filled the audience, as 50 students graduated in the Cal Prep Condor Class of 2024.
Tonantzin Lavenant-Hayward delivered the keynote speech as the Scholar of Scholars. A total of 17 students earned Valedictorian distinction with a cumulative GPA above 4.0 and 21 students earned Academic Distinction recognition with a cumulative GPA above 3.5. Among the other distinctions bestowed, Cal Prep presented its own recognition awards-
Outstanding Character Award- Connor Carter & Julian Baggaley
21st Century Learner Award- Sawyer Lindblad, Lydia Jones & Emma Poirier
Principal’s Award- Benjamin Cate & Dominick Campagnolo
Condors Award- Desirae Avery & Angela Bonsangue
The ceremony was the final one for principal Jolene Dougherty, who is retiring in June after 38 years working in CUSD.
