San Juan Hills students celebrated a significant milestone with the first Career Connections certificate presentation in collaboration with the Western States Carpenters Union and College and Career Advantage. The event recognized 102 students in the Building and Industrial Trades Academy for their commitment and skill in carpentry. A total of 78 students earned Level I certificates, 21 students earned Level II certificates, and 3 students achieved the distinguished Level III certification.
These recognitions were based on rigorous criteria that included completion of a minimum of 40, 160, or 300 instructional hours respectively, active participation in individual and team-based construction projects, and instructor approval. This event not only honored student achievement but also highlighted the power of education-industry partnerships in preparing students for meaningful careers in the skilled trades. With these certifications, the students have a direct path to a carpenter’s apprentice program or job.
