The Tesoro Chamber Orchestra recently performed at the 2024 Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association conference.
The conference was held at the Hyatt Regency Orange County in Garden Grove on January 26. The Tesoro Chamber Orchestra — the only string orchestra invited to participate in the conference this year — performed on the main stage, along with the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band and the Cal State University, Fullerton Symphonic Winds.
The Orchestra played “Suite for Strings (I. Prelude) by Christopher Wilson, “Whispers of Color (Aria for Strings)” by Joshua Reznicow, “Goodnight Moon” by Eric Whitacre with mezzo soprano soloist Kathryn Krasovec, “Mambo” from West Side Story arranged by Robert Longfield, and finished with Serenade in g Op.242 (VI. During the conference, Newhart Middle School teacher Valerie Petty was named the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association Middle School Educator of the Year.
