Wood Canyon Elementary students had the opportunity of a lifetime to perform at the at the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall for the 11th Annual Disney Musicals in Schools Student Share celebration on March 22. The Comet thespians performed Aladdin for their families and the other three schools selected for the program.
Wood Canyon received a 17-week residency which culminated in Disney KIDS Musical at the school site and a performance at Segerstrom Center of the Arts. Working with professional SCFTA Teaching Artists, the school faculty was able to build skills necessary to produce a musical theater show starring the students. Through this process, students developed self-confidence, practiced collaboration, and strengthened speaking and reading skills while learning musical theater techniques.
