San Juan Hills High School celebrated the commencement of the Class of 2024 during a ceremony in the school stadium on May 30.
Students entered the stadium to Pomp and Circumstance by composer Edward Elgar. The National Anthem was performed by Anna Lisa Gnielinski, and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Senior Class President William Meshkin. The Chamber Singers under the direction of Michael Ushino performed the Star Spangled Banner, and the SJHHS Alma Mater written by the SJHHS AP Music Theory Class 2014. They later performed “Yesterday,” written by The Beatles and arranged by Bob Chilcott.
Principal Dr. Manoj A. Mahindrakar welcomed the graduates and audience to this year’s commencement ceremony. The commencement speakers were Scholar of Scholars Melanie Hui, Carson De Filippo, and Danica Robertson.
Board of Trustees Vice President Michael Parham gave the Acceptance of the Class of 2024, and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Cary Johnson and Associate Superintendent Dr. Bob Presby presented the diplomas.
Senior Class President William Meshkin led the turning of the tassel. The graduates exited the stadium to the song “Time of Your Life” by Green Day.
