San Clemente High honored its graduating Class of 2024 on May 30 with a meaningful ceremony in the school stadium.
Students entered the stadium to “Pomp and Circumstance” by composer Edward Elgar and performed by the SCHS Principal’s Honor Orchestra led by Music Director Antonio Soto. Principal Chris Carter welcomed the crowd to this momentous event, and ASB President Blake McAlpin led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The SCHS Madrigals, led by Vocal Arts Director Alexandra Ustick, performed “Star Spangled Banner,” arranged by Joseph Karl. The SCHS Madrigals later performed “You’ll Never Walk Alone” with “Climb Every Mountain,” a medley arranged by Mark Hayes.
Scholar of Scholars Anthony Wu gave the commencement address, and graduates Blake McAlpin and Scaret Figueroa gave the farewell address. Rob O’Rear and Marc Popovich introduced the graduates, and diplomas were awarded by Board Member Lisa Davis, Mayor Victor Cabral, Assistant Superintendent Brad Shearer, and Assistant Superintendent Dave Stewart. Senior Class President Sarah Ahmadi led the turning of the tassel.
