STEAM education unlocks new interests and pathways for students through interactive learning and problem-solving. By applying curriculum and concepts in new modalities, students can easily connect and solve problems. The students in Mrs. Blake’s fourth grade class at Philip Reilly Elementary might find a future designing roadways or leading a pit crew on a Formula 1 team after their latest STEAM adventure.
The Eagle STEAM Influencers have been working with Sphero indi cars, the robotic toy car that uses colored tiles to teach kids how to give computers logical instructions. Working in four teams, students designed individual courses using indi cars, then faced the ultimate test—connecting them all into one unified track. After plenty of trial and error, teamwork, and perseverance, they succeeded! Along the way, they developed valuable STEAM skills, including coding, critical thinking, and hands-on, project-based learning.
Check out the exciting results as the students complete their own one-of-a-kind race course throughout the classroom.
