Food & Nutrition Services- August Update - CUSD Insider

Food & Nutrition Services- August Update

August has been a great month welcoming CUSD students back to the cafeteria for breakfast and lunch! All CUSD students have the opportunity to receive free breakfast and free lunch at school daily. At elementary sites, breakfast is offered at first recess. At middle and high school sites, breakfast is offered before the first period bell or at a scheduled break time typically before 10:30 AM. Menus can be found on the Food & Nutrition Services website: capistrano.healtheliving.net or at the links below:

Families are encouraged to complete Education Benefit Forms to see if their household qualifies for added benefits. Family benefits include free Chromebook coverage, discounted bus passes, discounted before and after school program, utility discounts, AP test discounts and fee waivers, and more! Education Benefit Forms also support school funding. Apply today at lunchapplication.com.

Organic yellow peaches grown in Reedley, California from Homegrown Farms are on school lunch menus the week of August 28. As part of the Organic School Food Cohort with Friends of the Earth, CUSD Food & Nutrition Services will serve a special organic fruit and/or organic veggie each month this school year. This produce is purchased using grant funding from the Local Food for Schools program. Stay tuned for next month’s organic fruit or veggie!
