Inspiration generates from a variety of different places, people and situations. Every group and community draws inspiration from its members, especially one as tight-knit as a school. To recognize the sources of inspiration at our schools sites, CUSD created the Most Inspiring Student awards program. Each school selected one student who inspires their campus community, and those special students were honored at a ceremony at Capistrano Valley High School on Wednesday, April 16.
Each principal was asked to nominate a student who inspires others on their school site campus. The criteria was wide open and they could solicit input from anyone at their school. Many of the students exemplify the school motto or have a bright, infectious attitude that brightens people’s day. Those students were invited to the ceremony with their families to be recognized on stage and presented with a special medallion embossed with the characteristics of the Vision of a CUSD grad.
Each honoree came to the stage with a teacher or administrator from their school, who shared the reasons why the student was so inspiring. There were stories of overcoming adversity or personal loss, growing academically or socially through the years, and showing kindness and respect to others. First grade students to seniors were included in the inaugural group, showcasing the strong qualities of character we hope to instill in every CUSD student.
Enjoy all of the photos from the joyous celebration, and be sure to congratulate your school’s honoree when you see them on campus.
