Dana Hills High School seniors gathered Thursday, June 1 in the school’s stadium for a commencement ceremony and to celebrate their graduation as the Class of 2023.
The ceremony began with graduating seniors walking in to “Pomp and Circumstance” performed by the Dana Hills Symphonic Orchestra, conducted by James Caestecker. ASU President Kate Bridgeman led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Lauren Bodnar, Annika Green and Piper Norton sang the National Anthem. The Blue Lantern Jazz Ensemble performed “In My Life” by the Beatles.
Principal Dr. Brad Baker welcomed friends and family to the ceremony. Board Trustee Amy Hanacek, Board Trustee Dr. Gary Prichard, Interim Superintendent Clark Hampton and Associate Superintendent Education and Support Services Dr. Greg Merwin presented diplomas to the students.
Sophie Andersen, Cole Villar, Austyn Perrone, and Trevor Nghiem were the commencement speakers.
Dr. Baker presented the Class of 2023, and Hanacek gave the Acceptance of the Class of 2023. Senior Class President Kempton Bohn led the Turning of the Tassel.
The Dolphin of the Year was Sophie Andersen. The Dolphin of the Year finalists were Sophie Andersen, Kate Bridgeman, Lexi Chernekoff, Alex Duffield, Derrick Grassmann, and Angelina Lopez.
