CUSD surprises 2023 Teacher of the Year winners on campus

A contingent of CUSD Trustees and administrators made their annual caravan around the District on Wednesday to surprise the 2023 Teacher of the Year award winners. Joined by the winners’ families and colleagues at each site, the group surprised the three recipients in their classrooms with flowers, a banner and plenty of hugs and smiles to announce the news.

Elementary Teacher of the Year- Leslie Whitaker (Esencia)

Middle School Teacher of the Year- Yesenia Hogancamp (Carl Hankey)

High School Teacher of the Year- Fernanda Villalba (San Juan Hills)

The three honorees will move on to be candidates for the Orange County Teacher of the Year awards, which will be announced in the spring.
