CUSD students receive AVID 8th Grade Standout Recognition

CUSD AVID 8th GRADE STANDOUTS

 

The Orange County Department of Education and the Angels Baseball Foundation held their annual AVID 8th Grade Standout recognition event at Angels Stadium on May 13. The program recognizes outstanding Orange County AVID eighth-grade students who demonstrate strong academics, leadership, perseverance, and college potential. Each OC middle school with an AVID program selects a winner and this year’s CUSD honorees were:

  • McKenzie Wakefield (Don Juan Avila)
  • Isabella Gaxiola (Marco Forster)
  • Pali Ilyer (Newhart)
  • Milo Gonzalez (Niguel Hills)
  • Jonny Whelan (Shorecliffs)
  • Noah Yuan (Vista del Mar)

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a program designed to close opportunity gaps and encourage first-generation and underrepresented students to pursue college and career success. Each recipient receives a laptop computer and Angels merchandise.
