Each ensemble is directed by an esteemed guest conductor selected to make this experience both educational and enjoyable for students. From classic literature to well known favorites, the young musicians are hard at work to prepare an evening of music sure to please.

“Over the years I have had the privilege of working with the amazing middle and high school musicians of the Capistrano Unified School District. Many of my closest music colleagues teach in this district, and in many ways, it feels like a second home to me. I am thrilled again to be an honor group conductor and am excited to share our music with you in Orange County’s beautiful Segerstrom Concert Hall!”

Brendan Mc Brien – guest conductor for the Middle School Honor Band ensemble (BIO)

“The combination of working alongside talented musicians from our CUSD schools, learning from an esteemed guest conductor, and performing in a professional, state-of-the-art venue like Segerstrom Concert Hall gives our students an inspiring musical experience that will stay with them the rest of their lives.”

Keith Hancock – Tesoro HS Choral Music, High School Honor Choir Lead Teacher

“Performing at the Segerstrom gives our students a taste of the life of a professional musician. Even if they pursue a career in another profession, they will always remember the time that they performed in this beautiful concert hall.”

Rachel Wright – Middle School Honor Choir Lead Teacher

“The honor concert creates a space for some of the district’s highest achieving music students to be challenged and celebrated.  The endeavor is truly a collaborative effort in which families, administrators, faculty, guest conductors and teachers rally behind these students to create beauty.”

Richard Perez, DMA – Middle School Honor Orchestra Lead Teacher
