The 2019 Capistrano Unified School District Secondary Honor Ensembles Concert was held on Friday, March 8 at the beautiful Segerstrom Center for the Arts Concert Hall, with nearly 500 middle and high school students participating.

Students auditioned for an opportunity to perform in one of five ensembles; middle school honor band, honor choir, honor orchestra, and high school honor choir and honor symphony orchestra.

This year, the conductors of each of the ensembles were:

Middle School Honor Band – Henry Miller, Irvine Unified School District

Middle School Honor Choir – Rachel Wright and Jason Harney, CUSD

Middle School Honor Orchestra – Dan Methe, PYLUSD School District

High School Honor Choir – Dr. Jaclyn M. Johnson, Symphony of Voices, Knoxville Tennessee

High School Honor Symphony – Dr. Robert G. Hasty, Northwestern University

The concert concluded with a stunning arrangement of Mack Willberg’s, Amazing Grace for chorus and symphony orchestra, complete with bagpipes, and close to 250 vocalists, and the high school honor symphony orchestra.
