Happy Thanksgiving CUSD!

SPANISH VERSION

Hello CUSD Families,

I want to take a moment to reflect on all we have accomplished in the first three months of the 2022-23 school year, and share my gratitude as we head into Thanksgiving break. This year, we have continued to focus on developing a Districtwide multi-tiered systems of support plan for social emotional support for students. Increasing the availability of middle school interventions, maintaining smaller class sizes in elementary, and providing credentialed PE teachers in elementary to support teacher collaboration are just a few of the practices implemented to support this goal, and we are seeing considerable benefits to the social-emotional well-being of our students because of them.

Additionally, CUSD excelled in mitigating learning loss over the two years of the pandemic, outperforming state and county averages in terms of change percentage of students meeting or exceeding the standards in the 2021-22 CAASP summary reports. Even when facing the most challenging of circumstances, our students remained committed to learning and achieving. You can see the full results here.

I am so grateful for our teachers, classified staff and administrators and their work to nurture all aspects of our students. I am also grateful for the partnership and support of our parents and families as we work together to help each student by name, and by need.

I hope that all of you have a peaceful and relaxing Thanksgiving break with your family and friends. We all deserve this special time, and I hope you are able to enjoy it.

Happy Thanksgiving.

-Superintendent Kirsten Vital Brulte
