Hello CUSD Students, Families, and Staff, I want to welcome you to the first day of school for the 2023-24 school year! 

I’m Dr. Christopher Brown and the Board of Trustees appointed me to serve as Superintendent of the Capistrano Unified School District in June. I am excited to be here serving this wonderful community and look forward to an incredible year of teaching and learning. 

Over the last six weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to spend time in many of our schools, meeting the CUSD team, and getting to know the culture and values of the school district. As we begin the new school year, I want each of you to know that I plan to spend time in our schools meeting students, staff, and families. I will be working with District leadership to support students in excelling in academics, athletics, and artistry, and in building meaningful relationships with their peers. 

I’m also looking forward to partnering with the CUSD community and learning from all of you about what makes your schools and communities so special. In September and October, I will be hosting open forums at each of our comprehensive high schools to meet with parents, community members, and employees to have a conversation about the topics that are important to you, to share CUSD successes, and to discuss the challenges we face as a public school district. Together, we can make our schools even stronger, more supportive places for our students to grow and thrive. We will share more about these forums in the coming weeks.

Queridos Estudiantes, Familias y Personal de CUSD, ¡Quiero darles la bienvenida al primer día de clases del año escolar 2023-2024!  

Soy el Dr. Christopher Brown. El pasado mes de junio, la Mesa Directiva me nombró como Superintendente del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Capistrano. Estoy muy emocionado de estar aquí sirviendo a esta maravillosa comunidad y espero tener un increíble año de enseñanza y aprendizaje.

Durante las últimas seis semanas, he tenido la oportunidad de pasar tiempo en muchas de nuestras escuelas, conocer al equipo de CUSD y aprender sobre la cultura y los valores del distrito escolar.  Mientras iniciamos el nuevo año escolar, quiero que cada uno de ustedes sepa que planeo pasar tiempo en nuestras escuelas, conociendo a los estudiantes, personal y familias. Estaré trabajando con los líderes escolares del Distrito para apoyar a los estudiantes a sobresalir académicamente, en deportes y en creatividad artística, así como construir relaciones relevantes con sus compañeros.

Asimismo, espero pronto empezar a trabajar con la comunidad de CUSD y aprender de todos ustedes acerca de lo que hace que sus escuelas y comunidades sean especiales. Durante los meses de septiembre y octubre, estaré llevando a cabo foros abiertos al público en cada una de nuestras escuelas secundarias para reunirme con los padres de familia, miembros de la comunidad y empleados del Distrito y tener una conversación acerca de los temas que son importantes para ustedes, compartir los éxitos de CUSD y discutir los desafíos que enfrentamos como distrito escolar público. Juntos, podemos hacer que nuestras escuelas sean lugares aún más fuertes y brindar mayor apoyo para que nuestros estudiantes se desarrollen y prosperen. Estaremos compartiendo mayor información acerca de estos foros en las próximas semanas.
