From Capo Valley Cougar to Eagle Scout

Capistrano Valley High School senior Madeline Lindstrom earned the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Scouting, from Troop 787 OC Mission Viejo. The community service projected she completed as part of this achievement held special meaning to her as a Cougar student-athlete.

Madeline’s Scouting journey began in 2019, when girls were given the opportunity to join Boy Scouts of America through the formation of a girls’ patrol led by women. Throughout the past seven years, she participated alongside the boys in camping, outdoor skills, service projects and leadership opportunities, challenging herself to learn new skills and step outside her comfort zone.

As part of her Eagle Scout requirements, Madeline planned and completed a service project benefiting Capistrano Valley High School. She coordinated the installation and building of four new benches on the school’s pool deck, managing the project from the initial planning stages, fundraising and organizing volunteers over the summer with construction through completion.

The project was especially meaningful to Madeline as a four-year varsity water polo player. Water polo is a winter sport, and athletes often spend long hours on the pool deck in cold, rainy weather. During the warmer months, they face the opposite challenge of sitting outside in the heat. She put her effort into creating comfortable, functional benches that will benefit future Cougar student-athletes for years to come.

Through the project, Madeline demonstrated leadership, organization, problem-solving and a commitment to serving her school community.

In addition to her Scouting accomplishments, Madeline is a four-year varsity water polo player at CVHS, a member of National Honor Society and HOSA, and has balanced her commitment to academics, athletics and community service throughout high school.

Earning the rank of Eagle Scout represents years of dedication, leadership, service and perseverance. Capistrano Valley High School congratulates Madeline on this significant accomplishment and the positive impact she has made on her school and community.
