Newhart Middle School officially cut the ribbon on its brand new student center on Feb. 4- The Panther Zen Den. The space is dedicated specifically to give students a place to relax, unwind, and reconnect during the school day. Student leaders welcomed staff, District administrators and Trustees for the special ceremony.
Thoughtfully designed with comfort and calm in mind, the space features inviting communal seating, a curated selection of books, and a variety of stress-relief tools and games. Whether students need a few quiet minutes to decompress, reset after a challenging moment, or simply take a mindful break, the room offers a welcoming retreat from the pace of the school day. Newhart students and counselors provided input on the design of the space, and partners at the Orange County Department of Education shared their expertise on sourcing items.
