Darnold Day at Palisades

For one day, the Palisades Waves school colors unofficially changed to navy and lime green. A special Friday Flag ceremony was dedicated to Palisades alum Sam Darnold, celebrating his appearance as the starting quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX. Students wore their Seahawk colors and displayed handmade signs to cheer on Sam. Members of the San Clemente Tritons football team, who Sam played for from 2012-14, joined in on the fun and danced with the students on the blacktop.

Principal Yesenia Hogancamp and CUSD Trustees Jennifer Adnams and Lisa Davis implored the current students to look at Sam’s success as an example of how they too could achieve their dreams with hard work and dedication. Palisades PAL students performed mock interviews with Sam at each stage of his development, from Palisades to Shorecliffs to San Clemente to USC, reflecting on the lessons he learned at each. The pep rally ended with Go Seahawks cheers and a school-wide wave to lift the team to victory!
