El Incendio que se desató la pasada tarde del miércoles 13 de marzo y se propagó rápidamente en las áreas costeras de la comunidad de Laguna Niguel. A medida que avanzaba la noche, se hizo evidente que era necesario diseñar un plan para la escuela primaria Moulton, que se encontraba en la zona recomendada para ser evacuada. Cancelar las clases del día jueves hubiera sido la opción más fácil, pero CUSD ha priorizado la instrucción en persona y la continuidad de las clases desde el inicio de la pandemia. Los estudiantes están mejor atendidos en las escuelas.
La escuela Wood Canyon fue identificada como una opción viable para albergar a los estudiantes de Moulton durante el día, y el equipo de la escuela “Comets” estuvieron a la altura de las circunstancias para acomodar al equipo de los “Eagles”.
El día jueves por la mañana, los administradores de Wood Canyon, Moulton y el personal del distrito se organizaron para preparar el campus para albergar estudiantes adicionales. Se transportaron mesas y sillas a las aulas temporales, se proporcionaron Chromebooks para los estudiantes que tal vez no tuvieran sus equipos disponibles y se entregó comida adicional para el almuerzo.
