CUSD + HOAG Mental Health Webinar Available Online

The CUSD + HOAG webinar on student mental health and chemical dependency is now available to watch on demand on YouTube. Dr. Sina Safahieh presents information and resources for families on chemical dependency issues in teenagers and young adults.

A valuable resource for Orange County residents, discussed during the webinar, as the Mobile Crisis Assessment Team (CAT). This multi-disciplinary program provides prompt response in the county when an individual is experiencing a behavioral health crisis. Clinicians respond to calls from anyone in the community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week year-round and dispatch to locations throughout Orange County. Capistrano Unified School District and Hoag Hospital have partnered to host a series of events titled “Helping Teens and Families Navigate Mental Health and Wellness,” featuring discussions on a variety of topics that impact today’s young people. The ASPIRE program at Hoag is an intensive outpatient program for adolescents, ages 13–17, with primary mental health disorders and possible co-occurring substance abuse challenges. Additionally, the CUSD Family Resource Center is back open for in-person service following a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19. District families are welcome to visit the Family Resource Center, located in the lobby of the Education Center building in San Juan Capistrano, and can also access resources online.
